Night Time Light Pollution
Night time light pollution is real problem. "Light pollution, the excessive or inappropriate use of outdoor artificial light, is affecting human health, wildlife behavior, and our ability to observe stars and other celestial objects. Light pollution is a global issue. .." https://www.darksky.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Energy-waste-web-1-647x500.jpg.
Commercially, many businesses leave their sign lights on all night long like McDonalds, Dollarama. This ia a waste of energy, and adds to night light pollution. A bylaw is needed to have these turn off at some point in the night until a decent hour in the morning. Tokyo has this policy to save energy and we can do the same! They also thin bulbs to reduce power use and more "Setsuden" ("saving electricity"). This movement emerged to encourage people and companies to conserve energy and prevent rolling power cuts. Simple measures such as increasing temperatures in homes and offices, "thinning" lighting by removing some of the bulbs and tubes, shutting down big screens and cutting exterior lighting enabled Japan to dramatically reduce power demand almost overnight (albeit at the cost of a small amount of personal comfort)." https://www.greentechmedia.com/articles/read/how-japan-replaced-half-its-nuclear-capacity-with-efficiency
It would be great to also see street lamps (newly installed) to have solar power and better light shields.
