Have you been thinking about retrofitting your home with more energy-efficient options such as a heat pump, solar panels or new windows, but find the cost to be prohibitive? Are you considering different financing options including the City of Nanaimo's Home Energy Retrofit Financing Program? If this sounds like you, we would like to hear from you!

We are seeking Nanaimo homeowners (including manufactured homes) who are looking for different financing options for home energy retrofits to help us design other financing programs. We will be conducting a one-on-one interview with you to learn about your individual needs. If you are interested, fill out the form below by June 15, 2025 and we will contact you to schedule an interview.

Not sure what energy retrofits are? Below is a list of examples:

  • Switching from fossil fuel space heating to an electric heat pump.
  • Installing solar panels.
  • Installing a backup battery where solar panels are already in place.
  • Building envelope upgrades to reduce air leakage and improve energy efficiency, such as door and window replacements or adding insulation.
  • Non-energy related measures that might impede energy retrofits or enhance health and wellbeing, such as better filters in heat pumps. These measures must be combined with one of the above retrofits.

Does this apply towards replacing/upgrading from electric baseboard heat to an electric heatpump?

This only applies to switching from using natural gas, oil or propane as a heat source to an electric heat pump. There are rebates available for switching to a heat pump from electric baseboards that may suit your needs. Here's the link to the BC Hydro rebate page.
