Woodgrove Area Plan Growth Scenarios Survey

City Plan: Nanaimo ReImagined(External link), the community’s visioning document for the next 30 years, states that the Woodgrove Urban Centre (see map) is to become a complete community. The Woodgrove Area Plan project will provide clarity and understanding about how this area can become a complete community. 

What is a Complete Community? 

A complete community provides a diversity of housing and transportation options to meet community needs, accommodates people at all stages of life, and provides a range of employment opportunities, amenities, and services within a 15-20 minute walk. 

We Need Your Input

The purpose of this survey is to inform you about three (3) growth scenarios that were developed as part of Phase 2 of the Woodgrove Area Plan project, and seek your feedback on the scenarios to better understand your priorities and/or concerns. The input that is collected from this survey will help inform Phase 3, which will focus on identifying policies and actions needed to transform the area into a complete community. 

 This short survey is made up of two (2) parts:

1) What might the Woodgrove Area look like in the future?

This part presents each growth scenario and allows you to give feedback on any comments and/or concerns you may have with each growth scenario

2) About You

This part asks a few questions about your relationship to the Woodgrove Urban Centre. These answers will remain confidential and are not mandatory.

This survey will take about 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and will close on Wednesday, July 2nd.

Three (3) growth scenarios were analyzed to understand what actions move us closer to achieving a complete community and the implications future residential and commercial growth may have on transportation, infrastructure, and access to daily needs in the Woodgrove area. Each growth scenario includes parameters (i.e. assumptions) that are based on projections completed for City Plan: Nanaimo ReImagined. The growth scenarios include: 

Additional parameters (transportation, infrastructure, and access to daily needs) were applied to each growth scenario. The full list of all parameters can be found in the Phase 2 - Growth Scenarios Report.

The next three sections of the survey will present maps showing the proposed actions proposed for each growth scenario on the Woodgrove Area. The maps are followed by a summary of the findings of each scenario, and an opportunity to provide feedback.
