Started in 1997, and registered as a charity in 2001, Nanaimo Foodshare Society provides skills, knowledge, and connection to our community. We provide resources to empower changes that increase healthy food for everyone. We:
- Join with community partners in addressing community hunger
- Build nutrition, cooking and growing food skills
- Bring the community together to share resources
- Build community capacity to provide healthy foods to everyone
- Support local sustainable food, help build food policy and develop coordinated community strategies to improve food security
As part of the Youth Resilience Project, Nanaimo Foodshare provides healthy food cooking skills, and growing educational opportunities for Nanaimo's youth aged 12 through 25 years. We vary locations to help empower existing youth groups with healthy foods and essential life skills to support life long positive choices. Contact us if you'd like to be involved with our youth resilience offerings.
