Commercial Corner ReImagined

Stimulating Redevelopment... Few things make a worse impression than vacant buildings and lots. Unfortunately, that’s what people are greeted by at the high profile Commercial/Terminal intersection. The southwest corner is a hole, empty since a fire destroyed the heritage Jean Burns building in 2016. With little private interest coming forward for redevelopment of this iconic site, the City purchased the land in 2021 to remove development barriers and help get it back to productive use. The northwest corner is also home to a long-vacant building, but encouraging plans are emerging for its revitalization as well. The vision for an active and attractive Commercial Corner is within reach.
